About the Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Linux System Administrator with over three years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Linux servers while ensuring high availability and performance.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration: Administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and CentOS environments, including installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance.
User & Group Management: Manage user accounts, groups, permissions, and ownership, applying security tools like SETUID, SETGID, and sticky bits.
Server Configuration: Configure and manage Apache web servers, DNS, DHCP, NFS, FTP, and SAMBA services.
Volume Management: Configure and manage Logical Volume Management (LVM) for creating, extending, and reducing volume groups and logical volumes.
Server Monitoring: Monitor server performance using tools such as top, vmstat, netstat, iostat, sar, and Nagios.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve server-related issues and network connectivity problems.
Security Management: Implement SELinux, manage firewalls, and ensure the secure operation of Linux environments.
Automation & Installation: Use Kickstart to automate OS installations and manage configurations for multiple servers.
Technical Support: Provide technical assistance, handle user tickets, and document resolutions in logs.
Required Skills:
Expertise in Red Hat Linux (RHEL 6/7) and CentOS.
Proficiency in managing file systems and network configurations.
Experience in performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of patch and package management using RPM and YUM.
Ability to configure NFS, DNS, DHCP, and Apache web servers.
Hands-on experience with creating and maintaining LVM-based storage.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Familiarity with tools like Nagios for system monitoring.
Certification in Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills to provide step-by-step guidance to users.
Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment.
Experience:
3+ years of experience as a Linux System Administrator or in a similar role.
